Rugby: Ramsey take early lead in Counties 3 ADM minor conference
Ramsey Rugby Club has made an impressive start to their campaign in the Counties 3 ADM Minor Conference League, securing a decisive 43-19 victory over Dukinfield. This win places Ramsey at the top of the standings after the first round, as other scheduled matches were postponed.
The match showcased a strong performance from Ramsey, who quickly established dominance with early tries from Jake Richmond, Brayden Roche, and Dan Kelly. Kellyโs three successful conversions helped the team surge to a commanding 21-0 lead. Although Dukinfield responded with tries from Dave Whitham and Ben Pugh, along with a conversion from Jonny Sculthorp, Ramsey maintained their edge, with Ben Hardman scoring right before halftime to leave the score at 26-12.
In the second half, Kieran Kneale further extended Ramsey's lead. Despite Dukinfield's effort to close the gap with Pughโs second try, which Sculthorp converted, Ramsey remained in control. The team capped off their victory with late tries from Brandon Atchison and Ross Quayle, complemented by another conversion from Kelly.
In other rugby action, Douglas Celts triumphed in the Hartford Homes Manx Cup, narrowly defeating Vagabonds 17-13 in a closely contested match. Celts' Jonty Shimmin, Charlie Henthorn, and Craig McGee each crossed the try line, while Craig Martin successfully converted one of those tries. Vagabonds' Cam Findlay was the standout performer for his team, scoring all of their points through a try, a conversion, and two penalties.
