Chief Minister: 'AG not out to silence debate'

• Concerns over wind farm guidance issued to HoK candidates.
• The chief minister says he doesn’t believe the attorney general wanted to silence debate on the proposed Moor Vannin Offshore Wind Farm.
• Walter Wannenburgh KC has previously advised General Election candidates on the subject saying any future ministers who have already made public statements supporting or rejecting the proposal, prior to a formal decision, ’would need to declare a conflict and recuse themselves.

Some airlines misleading about IOM travel documents, says government

• The government says some airlines have been giving passengers misleading information about travel documents needed to visit the Isle of Man.
• The Treasury says those who have valid immigration status don’t need Electronic Travel Authorisation documents to come here.
• It’s after some carriers caused confusion because they misunderstood the rules and gave the wrong information to fliers.

King Williams College FOI request handled properly, says commissioner

• The Island's Information Commissioner says the Treasury dealt with a Freedom of Information request properly.
• Dr Alexandra Delaney-Bhattacharya says those behind the request about loan funding for King Williams College asked for a review when they received redacted information.
• The ICO found Treasury went through the proper process when it decided to make the redactions, and had clearly considered a public interest test.

75 adult learners gather in Peel for Manx language summer school

• Manx Gaelic rang out through the streets of Peel recently as 75 adult learners came together for Culture Vannin’s annual Scoill Souree summer school.

• Ramsey commissioners are to ask permission to lease a car park to Shoprite.
• They’ve submitted a request to the Department of Infrastructure asking for permission to sign the long-term lease.
• It would see the local authority’s Station Road car park rented to the supermarket chain, which was bought by Tesco, for 21 years.
