Manx Radio · Politics · 17:49 Tynwald backs first time buyer changes • Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall brought the changes to the two schemes following a consultation. • Tynwald has approved changes to first time buyers’ schemes that will cut the minimum residency requirement to three years. • However, for the first home open scheme - which essentially opens up the scheme to the wider housing market - there was some push back from members.

Manx Radio · Politics · 06:17 VAT removal from electricity bills will cost government £1 million • Island following UK in applying cut. • Following the UK’s lead and removing the five percent VAT rate from electricity bills will cost the Manx Government around £1 million to the end of the current financial year. • The treasury minister has ruled out the Island breaking ranks with its larger neighbour and says the cut, introduced by Prime Minister Andy Burnham, will be passed on to Manx consumers.

3FM · Culture · 16:37 No early publication of Peel quay plans, says department • Plans for Peel's East Quay will remain under wraps for now - after the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture said it wouldn't publish them in response to a Freedom of Information request. • The request asked for proposals for the quayside, which have been put together by the Department of Infrastructure. • However, DEFA says the information is due to be published at a future date as part of the planning process.

IoM Today · Island News · 16:40 Jet ski users warned after reports of high-speed manoeuvres near swimmers • Officials described the behaviour as creating a serious risk to life. • The Department of Infrastructure’s Harbours Division said several personal watercraft were seen travelling at speed near families, including young children, and open-water swimmers during a busy weekend. • The Harbours Division said jet skis and other personal watercraft are capable of travelling at significant speeds and that reckless operation could have devastating consequences.
