• Another candidate has declared their intention to stand in the general election for Arbory, Castletown and Malew. • Juan Christian says he wants restructure Manx Care and be a champion for the futures of the Island’s children. • The charity worker also wants to focus on improving footfall for hospitality businesses.

• Chris Thomas says recruitment rules are adding to the pressures facing the sector. • The treasury minister has reaffirmed his support for the hospitality industry on the Isle of Man after concerns were raised about a shortage of chefs on the Island. • Andrew Gibbs, chair of the Jaks Group, says a lack of staff to fill those roles has forced the business to stop serving lunchtime meals from Monday to Thursday.

• An Island racer has threatened to break fingers after his awning went missing from the Southern 100 paddock. • Paul Cassidy took to Facebook to appeal for its return, saying the incident happened some time on Friday, July 3 or Saturday, July 4. • In his post, he says those responsible snapped cable ties securing it to a fence - adding nearby CCTV was also being checked.

• Douglas Council is asking people to take care on the beach as it shifts sand around from next week. • Re-profiling work will get underway from Tuesday, July 7 between Broadway and the Empress Hotel. • Heavy machinery will be moving sand from the seawall to the Loch Promenade end of the beach.
• A book of poetry has been published by a local author in aid of cancer charities. • Dawn Midwood from Ramsey has released a collection of poems called From The Heart in aid of cancer charities. • Dawn was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October 2022 and released the book to raise money for three charities - Hospice Isle of Man, Mannin Cancer Help Centre, and Pancreatic Cancer UK.
