• Amendments due to be debated in Tynwald. • This week the topic of assisted dying will again be discussed on the floor of Tynwald. • Amendments from the mover of the private members’ bill, Dr Alex Allinson, are due to be debated by our Island’s politicians.
• A former MHK has accused the Chief Minister of delaying the Island's assisted dying laws. • In an open letter, Quintin Gill - who represented Rushen from 2001 to 2011 - criticised Alf Cannan over his handling of the Assisted Dying Bill. • He’s accusing Mr Cannan of unilaterally contacting the UK to ask for amendments, saying he’d joined some UK politicians to oppose the legislation.
• The Steam Packet's rescheduling two sailings on Tuesday as the Manxman undergoes maintenance. • Her scheduled 8.30am crossing from Douglas to Heysham will be covered by the Manannan, and set off at 7.30am instead on Tuesday, June 16. • Meanwhile the return trip from Lancashire, which had been due for 2.15pm, will now be leaving at 11.30am.
• Education Minister Daphne Caine hoping to retain seat in September. • One of Garff’s sitting MHKs has announced their intention to stand for re-election in September. • Daphne Caine, who is currently the Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, has represented the constituency since 2016.
• A Catholic deacon is calling for the Assisted Dying Bill to be put on hold until after September's general election. • Graeme Easton, parish deacon of St Mary’s in Castletown, says the legislation is flawed, and the current parliament shouldn’t spend any more time on it. • Calling it the ’Assisted Suicide Bill, he claims the proposed laws have been pushed through ’at breakneck speed.
• Advises against increasing capacity 'without root-cause improvements'. • An independent rapid review of overall bed capacity within Noble’s Hospital has found evidence of ’complex issues such as trust, discretionary behaviours, questionable consultant job plans, silo-planning and circumvention of normal governance systems.
• Sir Keir Starmer announces 2027 ban for apps like Snapchat and TikTok. • The education minister says ’big discussions’ will have to be held over whether the Isle of Man follows the UK in banning social media for under-16s. • The UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has today announced restrictions on young people accessing apps such as Snapchat, TikTok and YouTube.
• Guidance co-led by the Isle of Man and Gibraltar. • Guidance notes on one of the most complex and least well-understood elements of the global financial crime network have been issued by the government. • Proliferation financing is the movement or use of funds and other assets to support the development, acquisition or movement of weapons of mass destruction.

• Former bard says taking on the role was a 'such a privilege'. • A former Manx Bard says it was such a privilege to play a part in so many occasions during his year in the role. • Applications are now open to find the 12th bard, who’ll be expected to write and perform poems at a wide range of events in their year in the position.
• Island resident Tyson Fury has shared social media posts of him wearing a cap for Donald Trump's birthday calling for him to be made Prime Minister. • He and his wife Paris Fury shared a selfie of themselves at the UFC cage fight outside the White House. • And he also shared photos of himself with the US president and Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg.
• An Island parent has launched a petition calling for the government to set up a specialised food disorder clinic for children. • James Green says he wants Manx Care to set up the facility to help youngsters with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. • The condition sees children refusing to eat foods based on texture, taste, smell, color and can lead to nutritional deficiencies or other problems.
• I never doubted it for a moment, the champion got what she deserved!’. • The Grenade claimed the Commonwealth Super Featherweight title on Saturday evening with an impressive victory over belt holder Katie Smith. • The pair were meant to meet in Portsmouth in April, but the bout was called off last minute and eventually rescheduled to the weekend at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in Bolton.

• The government says it's spent £1.7 million to save almost £4.3 million this year. • Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper is due to lay the Isle of Man Government Efficiencies and Change Programme’s annual report before Tynwald in July. • The document reveals the scheme’s biggest savings have been in contracts and recruitment, which account for £2.3 million.

• A hairdressing salon in Douglas says it's been forced to introduce late cancellation fees because of a rise in the number of people not showing up for appointments. • Salon 3 on Prospect Terrace in Douglas says it’s seen a recent increase in people cancelling late or not attending. • From July 1, it says if appointments are cancelled less than 48 hours beforehand it’ll start charging - and people who don’t show up at all will be charged the full amount.
• A local firefighter's raised nearly £3,000 for charity by walking the TT course in full gear, oxygen tank included. • Daniel Maddocks took on the 37.73 mile challenge for The Great North Air Ambulance service and The Firefighters Charity. • He says he aims to raise awareness of how important the air ambulance is to the Island all year round, not just during TT.
• A charity golf day's raised over £8,500. • The MAC Group organised the event at Peel Golf Club last month. • It was held in aid of local mental health charity Ed Space.
• More than 17,500 patients were reported to be on a waiting list for medical appointments earlier this year. • Health Minister Claire Christian gave the figure for March in response to a Tynwald question for written reply from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse. • Meanwhile she said a total of 124,567 outpatient appointments took place over the past financial year.
• More than 40 people have signed a petition demanding a new bus service. • Samantha Hounsell set up the change.org campaign asking for a direct bus from the west of the Island to University College Isle of Man. • She says more than 20 years ago she had to get two buses to reach the college, and nothing has changed in that time - adding having to change buses puts unnecessary strain on students.
• Part of a street in the centre of Douglas will be shut for over a month from today. • The closure applies to a section of Regent Street. • It’ll be closed until 6pm on Friday, July 17.

• They were initially involved in a row. • Darryl Logan, of Bibaloe Beg Road, Onchan, was initially involved in a verbal altercation with the man on January 4, at 3.30am. • He then attacked him with a stick, which he said he’d got from a Christmas Tree.
• He also didn’t have a valid driving licence or insurance. • Fifty-eight-year-old David Glynn Walker admitted the offence as well as having no valid driving licence or insurance. • We previously reported that police saw Walker driving a Peugeot 308 at the roundabout near Church Road Marina on April 26 at 2.45am.
• Court hears victim was assaulted while attempting to defuse a confrontation. • Shayne Forrester denied assault causing actual bodily harm and disorderly behaviour on licensed premises but was found guilty after a summary court trial. • He was also ordered to pay £1,000 compensation to the victim and £1,500 prosecution costs due to the matter going to trial.
